On a fateful day, as I was heading to a BBQ, I received a call to go pick up a friend. I agreed and headed to pick up my friend. And guess what? Having worked all day and exhausted from driving, my friend agreed to take on the wheel until we reached the BBQ venue. On our way, something extraordinary happened. I received a text message from the host to stop by the grocery store to get some extra drinks and water. First, I hesitated but then agreed to make the purchase.
But you know what? God had planned it otherwise because our stop at the grocery store was very fruitful.
As we were about to park the car, we ran into an old acquaintance; whom we hadn’t seen in a while. We greeted each other and headed our way. Some seconds later, she came running towards us stating that she had locked her car keys inside. All frustrated and sad about her action, I looked at her and immediately asked my friend to assist her (as I recalled that my friend had been in a similar situation and unlocked the car). Right there, all three of us headed to the grocery store to pick up the needed items and then got back to her car. Once we got to the car, a slight opening of a window eased the process. Three minutes later, the car was successfully unlocked. As soon as my friend unlocked the door, she stared amazed, thanked us and headed her way. She had a grateful and joyful heart. At that very instant, I exclaimed that we were destined to meet; it was nice seeing each other after two years. Upon hearing that declaration, she brightened up even further.
The encounter made us realize that nothing happens in vain, but that all things happen for a reason and are divinely ordained. We laughed about it and thanked the Lord for the divine encounter. We savoured the moment and learned that life is too short, hence the need to enjoy all the precious encounters that come our way. Finally, we headed our separate ways and considered the day to be a fruitful one.
